Kulgam ist eine Stadt (Municipal Committee) im Westen des indischen Unionsterritorium Jammu und Kashmir.

Sie bildet den Verwaltungssitz des gleichnamigen Distrikts. Beim Zensus 2011 lag die Einwohnerzahl bei 23.584.cite-ref-census2011-2-0[2] In der Stadt leben etwa 95 % Muslime und 4 % Hindus.cite-ref-census2011-2-1[2]

Die Stadt Kulgam liegt im Süden des Kaschmirtals auf einer Höhe von 2089 m zwischen Shopian im Nordwesten und Anantnag im Nordosten. Der Fluss Veshav verläuft südlich der Stadt in westlicher Richtung.

Klima

Das Klima in Kulgam ist kühl-gemäßigt. Die meisten Niederschläge fallen in der Regel in den Frühjahrsmonaten März und April. Der durchschnittliche Jahresniederschlag beträgt 845 mm. Die Jahresmitteltemperatur liegt bei 10,8 °C.
